Maserati MCXtrema: the name of the brand's most powerful and extraordinary track-only car
Its name is Maserati MCXtrema, to encapsulate all the disruptive force of a 730-hp racing car – with no type approval to be driven on the road.
Modena, 1 August 2023 – Its name is Maserati MCXtrema, to encapsulate all the disruptive force of a 730-hp racing car – with no type approval to be driven on the road.
At first, it was secretly known as ‘Project24’. Now it’s time to introduce it to the world with its official name: a reminiscence of the Maserati MC20 base model – the “first of its kind”, a super sports car entirely made in Italy that has marked the beginning of the brand’s new era. It also pays homage to the strong legacy of Maserati Corse, along with the concept of the extreme, which recalls the superlative soul of this outstanding four-wheeled marvel.
The concept behind this unique product – only 62 vehicles produced worldwide and already sold out – is the idea of unleashing a true racing beast, something different and disruptive compared with anything that has ever been done before.
A car dedicated to the excellence of gentleman drivers and racing cars’ enthusiasts, designed to impress and to ignite passion for extreme racing, ready to conquer the tracks around the world – in private test sessions – with its fine design and mind-blowing performance.
The Maserati MCXtrema will be revealed at The Quail on 18 August, during the prestigious Monterey Car Week 2023.

A range equipped with 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains – available for Ghibli, Grecale and Levante – V6 petrol and V8 petrol, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive, embodying the performance DNA of the Trident Brand, now completed with the Grecale Folgore, Maserati’s first full-electric SUV. The top of the range is made up of the MC20 super sports car and the MC20 Cielo spyder, powered by the ground-breaking 100% Maserati Nettuno V6 engine, , which incorporates F1-derived technologies into the power unit of a standard production car for the first time. The new GranTurismo is available with both the high-performance V6 petrol engine, derived from the Nettuno, and a 100% electric version: the GranTurismo Folgore, the first car in the Modena-based brand’s history to adopt this solution. By 2025, all Maserati models will also be available in a full-electric version, and the entire Maserati range will run on electricity alone by 2030.
