Spanish F4 Championship season kicks off at Portimao with Abarth-powered Tatuus cars

• More than 25 drivers at the start of the 7-round Iberian series between Spain, Portugal and Belgium.
• MP Motorsport looking for a team hat-trick after 2020 and 2021 wins.
• Italian team Cram Motorsport makes its debut in the Spanish series.

It will be the Algarve International Circuit, in Portimao, to kick off the seventh season of the Spanish F4 Championship, the Iberian series which, after the UAE, Germany and the UK, will see the second generation of Tatuus F4s at the start, powered by the 180 hp Abarth 1.4 T-Jet engine, closely derived from the one powering the Abarth 695.
More than 25 drivers will take to the track for the first round of the season on the Lusitanian circuit. After the victories in 2020 with Kas Haverkort and in 2021 with Dilano van 't Hoff, all eyes will be on the Dutch team MP Motorsport which, in 2022, will line up a line-up of 7 drivers among which the Italian Valerio Rinicella stands out, the 15-year-old Roman driver already on show in the UAE series. The Cram Motorsport team will also be making its debut in the Spanish series with the Indian Anshul Gandhi and the Mexican Ricardo Escotto. As many as 19 nationalities are represented in the Iberian series with drivers coming from 5 different continents.   
The Spanish F4 Championship will officially start on Friday 29 April with the first two free practice sessions at 13.45 (GMT + 1) and at 17.00. On Saturday 30 April at 8.30am the first qualifying of the season which will precede race 1, also on Saturday at 2.15pm. Sunday 1 May at 8.30am the start of the second qualifying session, while Race 2 and Race 3 will start at 10.55am and 3.15pm respectively. Race 1 and Race 3 will last 25' plus one lap, while the "sprint race", Race 2, will last 18' plus one lap. All Spanish F4 Championship races will be broadcast live on the series' Twitch and Youtube channels
The Iberian series, after the first round at Portimao, will move to Jerez de la Frontera on 28-29 May. The calendar then includes races at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo (11-12 June), Spa-Francorchamps (8-9 July), Motorland Aragon (3-4 September), Navarra (1-2 October) and the grand finale at Barcelona's Montmelò circuit on 12-13 November.
