A weekend of great battles on track that confirms the excellent performance of the young drivers of the British F4 Championship and the Spanish F4 Championship, powered, on the Tatuus F4 T-421 single-seaters, by the 180 hp Abarth 1.4 T-Jet engine. On the Jerez de la Frontera track, Nikola Tsolov's (BUL - Campos Racing) one-two wins gives the Bulgarian driver the leadership in the standings thanks also to the second place in race 1 and the double pole position. Leadership, instead, confirmed at Thruxton in the British F4 for Alex Dunne (IRL - Hitech GP) who won twice on the fast British track after taking two pole positions.
In the second round of the Spanish F4 Championship, on the 4423 meters circuit of Jerez de La Frontera, there are 27 single-seaters lined up on the grid with Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov who, after the difficult start at Portimao, confirms himself as one of the favorites in the Iberian series. The Campos Racing Bulgarian set the pace in qualifying and, in race 1, after a heated battle with Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (POL - MP Motorsport), had to settle for second place. Under the chequered flag, in third place, Valerio Rinicella (ITA - MP Motorsport) savoured the first podium of his career, but two second penalties dropped him back to fourth and Charlie Wurz (AUT - Campos Racing), making his debut in the Spanish series, climbed onto the podium. In race 2, the shortest race with 18' plus one lap, Tsolov took his second win of the season, beating Kucharczyk and the Roman Rinicella, who redeemed himself after race 1. Tsolov was uncatchable and also won race 3, putting his team mates Georg Kelstrup (DEN - Campos Racing) and Hugh Barter (AUS - Campos Racing) behind him on an all-Campos Racing podium. In difficulty was Thailand's Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (THA - MP Motorsport), who came to Jerez as series leader. For him only an eighth place and two finishes outside the points zone. The next round of the Spanish F4 Championship is scheduled in a fortnight' time, on 11 and 12 June, at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo.
The third round of the British F4 Championship confirmed Alex Dunne (IRL - Hitech Grand Prix) at the helm of the British series. The Irishman ended an almost perfect weekend thanks to a double win in race 1 and race 3 and fifth place in race 2, after starting from tenth place due to the grid inversion. In both race 1 and race 3, behind the leader of the standings, it was the American Ugo Ugochukwu (USA - Carlin), leader among the rookies, who finished in second position, while Oliver Gray (GBR - Carlin) and Louis Sharp (NZL - Carlin) took the third step of the podium. In the second race came the first victory of the season for Aiden Neate (GBR - Phinsys by Argenti) who preceded his team mate Daniel Guinchard (GBR - Phinsys by Argenti) and Australian Noah Lisle (AUS - JHR Developements). Dunne, thanks to five victories in the season, leads the classification with 39 points ahead of Ugochukwu. In a fortnight' time at Oulton Park the British F4 Championship will be back on track for the fourth round, while Alex Dunne, next weekend, is expected to start the second round of the Italian F4 Championship, at the Misano Adriatico circuit, to maintain the leadership also in the Italian series.
