Amsterdam, 13 April 2023 – Stellantis is today marking Reman Day, the global remanufacturing day, by announcing its participation to Rematec with SUSTAINera, the label representing the Company’s Circular Economy activity. The exhibition takes place from 27 to 29 June in Amsterdam and is the world's leading trade event dedicated to the remanufacturing industry. The goal is to promote the efforts of manufacturers in all sectors of this industry so that they become the norm. The 3 main themes this year are electric vehicles, remanufacturing of battery packs, and sustainable production, subjects on which Stellantis is fully engaged.
Remanufacturing at the heart of Stellantis’ strategy
Within the 360-degree circular economy business based on the 4R strategy (Reman, Repair, Reuse, Recycle), Remanufacturing is a central pillar as it pursues the objective to extend products lifespan and provides a sustainable addition in the Company’s aftersales spare parts range.
Under the SUSTAINera label, there are more than 13,000 reman part numbers included in 37 product lines such as starters, alternators, clutches, turbochargers, injectors, brake calipers, electronic control modules, high-voltage battery packs, transmissions, and engines among others.
SUSTAINera promises to repairers and customers for all Stellantis Brands a sustainable and affordable solution without compromising on quality: same performance and warranty conditions as new parts, while preserving the environment through decreased waste, less use of our planet’s resources and reduced carbon footprint.
Specifically, the SUSTAINera REMAN offer reduces the use of raw materials on average by 60% to 95%, depending on the part, and cuts the CO2 emissions by 30% to 80% compared to new parts production*. For these reasons Circular Economy Business Unit plays a key role in the Stellantis’ ambitious decarbonization strategy to reach Carbon Net Zero by 2038.
Stellantis’s remanufacturing competences and activities (in house and with suppliers) are present in Europe, North America, and South America, set to expand also in the other Regions supporting the Company’s global approach already at the base of its leadership in the automotive industry.
Worldwide, SUSTAINera REMAN sales delivered a 19% growth in 2022, contributing to Circular Economy as one of the seven accretive business units outlined in the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, with the scope set to reach more than €2 billion in revenues by 2030, pushing to quadruple revenues from extending life of products and to increase recycling revenues by 10 times as compared to 2021.
